875 Salvations in 3 days
“My heart is buried in this land!” I cried to a crowd of several thousand in the little town of Moquegua, Peru. People wiped away tears as I told of our first child, buried as a seed in the soil of this nation. We even buried Kathy’s dad, who had poured out his life as a missionary here, in the ground of this land. As I told this story of love, I never dreamed such a harvest would result. After only the first 3 days, we’ve seen 875 salvations, hundreds of healings, and the fire of revival kindled in many hearts.
Victor wept through his message
On the second and third nights, I invited my young friend, 22 year-old Victor Hernandez, a revivalist to Mexico, to preach the crusade. Victor wept through his message, describing the cross, the cup of punishment for sin, and the forgiveness of Jesus. Again, hundreds flocked to the altar to receive Jesus as their Savior. Our entire team, consisting of Kathy and me, Dennis Walker, Javier, Wilma, Dean and Stephanie, Lisa, Joe, John, and Victor’s team, laid hands on people to be healed. Before our very eyes, we saw two cripples walk, dozens of tumors shrink, deaf ears open, and blind eyes see. Hundreds of Peruvians were healed, and some of our team dissolved into tears, overwhelmed that God had used them for miracles.
Salvations and healings in the streets
With our hearts bursting, we knew we couldn’t hold these demonstrations of love inside the crusade building, so we took it to the streets. Praying for people as we found them in the market place, we saw a blind man receive sight, a lady healed of kidney pain, and one with arthritis healed. Soon a crowd thronged in around us, and we led them all to the Lord. At least 45 people received Jesus as Lord and Savior, right there in the market place. You would have fallen over laughing if you could have seen me jump into a beauty pageant and strut my stuff. It was pretty scary when I received the loudest applause for the most beautiful one among all the females. But hey, you know me—I’ll do anything to preach the Gospel! We prayed for several for healing right there and I invited them all to come to the crusade meeting that night.
The Initiatives of Heaven
In a Pastor’s Conference, my brother-in-law Dennis Walker and others from our team ministered. Dennis taught on “The Initiatives of Heaven,” explaining that “whatsoever is born of God, overcomes the world” (I John 5:4). This means catching the “power, presence, and provision of heaven,” and bringing it down to earth.
60 prisoners gave their heart to Jesus
We even preached in a prison where 60 prisoners gave their hearts to Jesus, freed from Satan’s captivity—right in the midst of a jail! In all, between 6,000 to 8,000 people came through the crusade, and the Gospel was preached to multiplied thousands through television and radio.
Thank you -- you are here with us
How can Kathy and I ever thank you enough for supporting us and making this ministry to Peru possible? In our hearts, we feel you are here with us, ministering alongside us to these beautiful people. Honestly, I never could have dreamed such a harvest would be reaped in only our first three days in this land. It broke our hearts when we buried our seed in the ground of Peru, but our joy overflows today as we reap this glorious harvest!
